Why Suppliers Reject Custom Colours for Candle Jars and Diffuser Bottles
Why Suppliers Reject Custom Colours—and What Smaller Brands Can Do

Many candle and home-fragrance brands ask for a custom colour, then hear the same answer: “The MOQ is 3,000 pieces or more.” This can be frustrating for a smaller launch, but the reason is usually production method—not a lack of interest in the project.
For larger orders, colour coating is often run on an automated line for large quantity. The line needs preparation, colour adjustment, production scheduling and cleaning before the next colour can begin. These set-up steps make a higher quantity more practical. Once the run is large enough, automated production can deliver consistent colour, efficient output and a competitive unit cost.
Smaller brands still have options. Some factories retain manual spray-colour workshops for LOWER MOQ projects. Manual spraying is more suitable for limited colour runs, samples and smaller collections because the set-up can be adapted to lower quantities like 500pcs.

At ihwares, our normal standard MOQ is 1,000 pieces for bulk purchasing. For suitable existing candle jar and diffuser bottle projects, manual colour spraying may be reviewed from 500 pieces.
For brands planning larger repeat orders, automated colour production may be the best route. For a smaller launch or a test collection, a manual colour process can offer more flexibility. The key is to match the colour plan to your order quantity and launch strategy.
